Rowdy the Wussy Diva and Other Stories

So Jackie and Tony have come and gone, but I will talk about that in another post.  Teresa is doing great and is a constant source of wonderment and amusement to us. She is determined to learn all the words to "Little Rabbit Foo Foo" although I have changed the end so the field mice get their revenge on the little goon. She is pretty good with colours and can now recognize most numbers between 1 and 10. She is learning more every day and Ken and I are so proud.

In other news, I am starting a 6 week term starting on September 2nd teaching Home Ec for a teacher on medical leave. I can no longer wear regular pants and have had to pull out my maternity pants. I can also feel the baby move about once a day, little Yostie is getting stronger every day.

Now, on to the pictures.

The titular event of this post...it had rained earlier, and Rowdy was too delicate to actually pee on the wet grass. He stood there for 5 minutes until we let him back in.

Ken and Teresa, the two messiest ice cream eaters at Grand Beach.

Most of the family, together again.

Teresa always enjoys a good bath.

A couple of videos...

I only took a bit of video, but I already edited it, so here it is...

A Day at the Beach

How To Build a Sandcastle

We're back...

Well, Teresa is with the Friesen grandparents in Kenora right now and we are back in the city. Over the next two weeks, I have a class for four hours a day, football starts, and Jackie & Tony are in town for a week...

Ah fun times.  It feels like summer break never happened and it hasn't ended yet!  I guess I shouldn't complain.  A few quick notes and a couple of pics to satiate the masses, before Cara makes a longer post in the near future (I should also note that the laptop HD crashed so we still have our pics, but not mom & dad's)

Cards
First, I have to admit that I got lost overall at cribbage, but here is why I bring it up...  I was down probably 8 games heading into the last day when I cut a king, and dad ever confident cut a king (a 1 in 221 shot of occurring, or .45% for the math illiterate), and I won the first crib on the second cut.

Teresa got up after the first hand and we had to put the game aside, and we picked it up later.  I got every cut possible (including a 24 to go over), and I beat dad 121- 62.  Interestingly he pointed out afterwards that he had cheated me...  Not the normal methods, rather blatantly violating the spirit of his granddaughter breaking the game up, while I was not there moving my pegs 2 back and his 2 forward.  So really I beat him 121-60...  I have now double skunked dad.  Let the lying cheat try to weasel his way out of this one, but I doubt you will hear his voice claiming much more than "But the pegs said..."  I then skunked him again to end off the season, closing the series to almost tied.  I think Ed & I need a support group against cheating fathers...

Birds
The only reason I bring this up is because I (and I am the only one to have seen the whole bird) saw a BALD freakin' EAGLE land in the birch tree lakeside.  He landed on a dead branch, I realized what it was, called everyone but the branch broke off and the eagle flew away.  Dad saw the tail feathers.  The eagle flew up to the point...  I am 95% sure (I still need to look up pictures) that I saw a young bald eagle fly by 20 minutes later, as it was huge and had the mottled feathers the Birds of Canada book suggests!
edit I now 99.32% sure, as I found an image online of what I saw

Now for a few pics.

Because Pearl asked nicely (& wanted more posts while we were relaxing on the sand) [ed. note: Cara made me change this title]

OK, so we are back in Winnipeg for two nights...  Yes two whole nights, without Teresa to boot.  We had to come in for Yostie #2's doctor's appointment today and I have a playoff ball game tonight.  Then Cara scheduled her book club for tomorrow night.  I wish that second night wasn't happening, but heck we'll take advantage of some quiet time to nap, go see a movie or two and rest.

So, I am hoping that I can get YouTube to post the heartbeat, which we got today.  When I have that I will post it under here...  All is well, and the heart was 155-160 bpm.

So now a few pictures from the past few days.
Teresa really likes driving a stick...

How is this for a blast from the past...  Dad pulling a young child in the orange wagon.  Ironically after saving it for all this time, the wagon broke already.  I am going to try to find parts tomorrow.  The second wagon we had broke today on the way home from the beach...  Presently mom & dad are at the beach wagonless.

What would the beach be without a splashing fight.  I started this one.  Dad was silly enough to believe that being near Teresa would save him...  BTW he fights dirty.  Today he splashed me while wearing his sweatshirt, something I would have been in trouble for having got wet if I even splashed back!

Teresa is running from the mayhem...

Teresa tries to get in on the action...

Yup, Teresa loves getting wet...

Making her warm again requires mommy...

No other child on Earth is more photographed I believe.

Teresa loves to stomp...

Teresa loves to run far away from our stuff.  Instants after this picture, Teresa said she had to poop and gave them 10 seconds (max) warning.  I took the picture of Sarah running her back with a bulging bum on dad's camera!

And for those who are concerned, our dog is doing well.  Full of piss & vinegar, even though he isn't supposed to run or swim he tries mightily to run in the 30 feet of cable he has been given.

& we're off...

One last post pre beach...  Here is Teresa eating a cookie.  Cara & Teresa enjoying cooking together.
Now we will be at the lake until mid August...  See you then!
