Sign of the Impending Apocalypse #413

Team Galley/Barker/Tyler/Yost: 7
The Other Guys: 1

Conceded after 6 ends.

We are the Last Chance Champs!

Sightseeing

Now that we actually have a bit of time in the Twin Cities, I can actually see something other than Valleyfair, the Metrodome & a store or two.

Today we went to Cosetta's Italian restaurant which was quite nice. They had good pizza & a nice marketplace. We then drove past the State Capitol...

on the way to St. Paul's cathedral. It was built for the Archdiocese in 1907-1915, and took over 40 years to finish the interior. It is a fantastic looking church. Here are a few pics. In one section they have patron saints of countries, including Ste. Therese the little flower. We took a picture of a napping Teresa in front of the statue.

After we were done there, we headed to Como Park in St. Paul. Como Park has a 'free' ($2 adult, $1 child suggested donation) zoo, conservatory & tropical room. We took Teresa to the zoo & Tropical house and got some pics of turtles, bananas, pineapples, and many animals. The cutest pic had to be the polar bear & Teresa in her polar bear top. Here are those pics...

Polar Bear!

Teresa in her polar bear hoodie... Note the ears. Also, the bear has his tongue (which incidentally, is black) stuck out.

Rowdy sleeps the same way...

A piece of Manitoba. That is a BISON people!

Lions. I learned that lions are the only social cat out there. They live in families, unlike other cats. What does this mean cat lovers? All other felines are using you, don't care for you and would likely feed off you should you die... Dogs on the other hand truly love people :)

A pregnant snow leopard. Gestation is 98 days.

Tiger... He had paced a path to the dirt

Last but not least, a wolf. Speaking of dogs, they are 100% wolf DNA, no crossbreeding. Toy poodles to Great Danes all stem from these guys. Interestingly I read that they generally are 80-120 pounds. I always thought they were heavier.

Sign #412 of the Impending Apocalypse

Somehow we have made it into the 'Last Chance' finals after being up 9-1 after 4 ends and shaking hands (FYI: games are only 8 ends). We played OK, but not well. Anyhow, the final is tomorrow, but I am off to Minneapolis so the team will be playing without a lead.

Ah well... Next Stop: MINNEAPOLIS!

6 Months!

Teresa had her 6 month pics taken today, and here are some of the best of them. In other news, I have been relaxing for Spring Break, and we are to head to Minneapolis tomorrow morn'. The snow is melting out here, and all is well...

Been a bit...

Haven't had to much to post lately, and now that spring break is finally here I can post! We are going to be heading down to Minneapolis Wednesday. Originally we had planned it for Tuesday but our curling team somehow made it to the semifinals, defeating a team that is better in the process. Beyond that we went to Ryan Galley's social last night while Ray & Myrna ensured Teresa did not wake up. Interestingly, I met a Loeppkey there... They were our neighbours up to 1985, small world. Before the social I took some cute pics of Gramma & Teresa.

In other news, I cannot believe that as of Tuesday Teresa has been born for 6 months - it seems like yesterday.

But Not the Hippopotamus

Saturday Cara went out to buy a couple of books for Porter's 2nd birthday (her cousin's kid), and came home with a time tested favorite for Teresa... Of course, "But Not the Hippopotamus" is now in heavy rotation on the night time reading circuit. For those that don't know it is a book of deep character development, growth and introspection. If not the Hippo, why not? Why can he not have a new running hat, and what of the armadillo? How can we a Christians reconcile our beliefs with the fact that animals are being excluded frombog cavortation? It is a profound and personal book...

Cute Cara pics...

While taking the last set of me & Teresa she noted that she doesn't get the cute pics with Teresa, so I made sure I took some...

Teresa & Daddy

Cute pics. Anyhow, Teresa had Barley cereal for the first time today. So far rice, wheat & barley all are taken in like a pro. She has though been quite fussy most of the day and has not really been napping.

Anyhow, here are the cute pics.

Splish, Splash, Teresa Ate Breakie...

Well, Teresa loves her solids but has been known to at times be a somewhat messy eater... The evidence is obvious, and super cute.
