Teresa's First Fish!

For Jeff & Katie's wedding we needed a babysitter so we could stay past 9:00 without crazy-manic-poo-flinging-monkey-children emerging from our otherwise placid young daughters like Gremlins emerging from Mogwai*.   Ray and Myrna volunteered to take them for a long weekend at the "trabin", getting them on Friday and we picked them up on the Monday.

When we arrived Monday we learned many things.  I cannot pack to Myrna's satisfaction. Teresa and Frances cannot open and close screen doors quickly enough to Myrna's satisfaction.  Teresa and Frances must rinse off all sand from the bodies before coming in from the lake in order to be up to Myrna's satisfaction.  If you wish to use the same water glass all day, expect to have it washed three or four times even after you indicate to Myrna it is unnecessary.**

Most importantly though during their time out there Teresa caught her first fish with her flashing Disney Princess fishing rod.  A little perch that ate a wormed hook from off the dock by Ray's boat.  Ray said it was only a couple of feet down and he could see it testing it out the whole time.  While it would have been great to try her first fish the fillets would have been tiny and such the little guy (or gal) was released.

* No, I could not type that with a straight face.
** Uh, hi Myrna...  Um, this is awkward...  You check the blog eh?  Have you seen your cute grandkids?  Exeunt

The intrepid fisherman (fisher-girl?  How PC am I supposed to be now?) and her catch.

Admiring it from up close. What a cutie.

You're busted - I do read the blog. In my defence: The girls didn't just close the screen door slowly, Frances would inform me by saying "Grandma closing door" before closing it. While cute, it gave the flies a lot of time to enter. And there were many. As for the dishes - I don't do well with clutter. What can I say. As for the hosing down before leaving half the beach in my livingroom - they loved it. And for feeling there was insufficient outfits for the duration - that I won't defend. Had a GREAT time with the girls!!

I'm sure they're just used to taking half the beach inside because nobody cares about turning the Yost cabin non-floors into a sandbox :-)

They are not non-floors. They are "heritage" floors. More importantly, sand keeps them polished.

The fishing pictures are quite cute. I had no idea that Disney princesses had fishing rods.

Dad

PS What is Mogwai?

Dad, if they can make a buck, they'll turn it pink and put on some sparkles :)

As for Mogwai, the reference is to the movie Gremlins: buy a cute furry Mogwai and it turns into a violent nasty Gremlin if they eat after midnight.

Things I have learned since yesterday:
Commenting on Myrna's exacting standards does not live up to Myrna's exacting standards. :)
